And nearby is the Yoichi Space Museum, which is built in memory of Mamoru Mori, a local astronaut. In the museum, there is a set of simulation equipment, the operation of which will make feel like a space shuttle pilot.
Surrounding the Mt. Yotei-zan is the Niseko resort area. Here you can enjoy many kinds of outdoor sports, like skiing, rafting and hiking. Also, there are numerous hot springs. The spring water flows out from the Mt. Yotei-zan is one of the best waters in Japan.

Setting from Cape Shakotan and passing through a thirty metres long tunnel, the Shimamui Coast would suddenly appear in front of you. Shimamui Coast is surrounded by the beautiful sea, with rugged rocks in it. It is the sharp contrast that makes this area a popular spot, attracting numerous tourists every year. But because of its special geographical location, this area often has strong sea wind, so you’d better take measures in advance, in case of getting a cold. In winter, there may be seals on the coasts, but to see them, you’d better wear a pair of mountain-climbing boots or long boots to pass the snow-covered path.
