Eating Like A Local on Italy’s Amalfi Coast

When visiting Italy’s Amalfi Coast, you’ll want to take a moment to treasure the taste treats the locals like. Naples, Pompeii and Amalfi Coast have a plethora of culinary delights. No visit to this area would be complete without the tempting taste treats the locals enjoy.

Many locals plan their day around food and in this area, food abounds. Start with a Colazione (your Breakfast) is generally an espresso and a Cornetto (croissant Italian style). Some prefer a sfogliatella (ricotta filled pastry).

For lunch one would enjoy a Pranzo. This is generally the main meal of the day and many of the locals close up shop for their large meal. This meal is generally served from noon to 3:00 although most of the locals won’t be eating lunch before 2:00 p.m.

After work enjoy an Aperitivo. This post office drink is similar to our happy hour and begins around 5:00 p.m. and ends around 8:00 p.m.

Cena (dinner) will be much lighter than your lunch although it is still a main course meal. Most restaurants begin serving Cena around 7:30 p.m. and end at 11:00 p.m. If it is summertime, they will serve Cena even later. Most of the locals eat Cena after 8:30 p.m.

There are many local delicacies in Italy. Whether it be a fine cheeses or an inspired pasta sauce or a decadent dessert, Italy is a plethora of tasty delights.
